ALTAX’s Good Practice Open Days tour follows

Today we, ALTAX experts, continued the tour on the second day of good practices in Elbasan, where after getting to know the Mayor of Elbasan and the staff of the Municipality, as well as in solidarity with members of the civil society and social groups of the city, we felt like real members in what we believe we had included in our expert reports.

evidenced after we had carefully analyzed them in the Report presented in June 2022, during these 5 months we carefully processed what we should approach not as a thank you for the good work, but to show the uniqueness.

This approach of the Elbasan Municipality, where it is related to the management of expenses, is one of the main local units with the lowest administrative expenses. The strategy followed, in addition to keeping public services at the desired level, directly influenced the increase in the budget dedicated to social programs.

Meanwhile, the other approach has already been evaluated by the European Union with the title “The mayor friendliest to the Roma community”. This assessment for the Municipality of Elbasan is considered the first cornerstone towards the turning point, in a not very glorious history of the relationship of this community with the rest of society in the entire territory of Albania. The act takes on an added value since Elbasan is the second local unit in terms of the concentration of the Roma population in the country.

In the activity, an opinion in favor of the findings and presentations as good practices was also from members and leaders of civil society organizations.
