ALTAX follows the meetings and communication of good practices in Vlora

This Thursday, the group of ALTAX experts continued the meetings and communication, in the city of Vlora to dialogue on the good practices selected from the Report “Multidimensional monitoring of local government 2021, Municipality of Vlora”.

These good practices are the special part of the performance of the Municipality of Vlora, which, although it has encountered challenges and work to be carried forward during their implementation, remains to be promoted by civil society as a case where the focus and dedication of the leadership of the municipality manages to make a difference.

Thus, in the meeting with the leaders of the Municipality of Vlora, we managed to show facts and arguments that the situation of waste management has already entered an important turning point, as far as it is related to the vision for waste management, but also to the implementation in practice, even though the difficulties are among the most diverse and difficult to solve in a brief time.

While another aspect to be promoted for the work of the Vlora Municipality is precisely the significantly improved administration of local revenue collection.

This positive performance in revenue collection and the increase in collections from arrears, turns out not to have been realized in previous periods, therefore the trend of progress is worth promoting and generalizing as a good practice of the administration of some taxes and fees and at the same time it highlights certain problems that require legal solutions, especially the unresolved problems of ownership which are an untapped source of income.

In the meeting held in the premises near the Independence Museum, a special color was the discussion and the welcome comments from representatives of the city’s finance experts as well as representatives of civil society, who requested that in addition to the expression of considerations, there are still reservations to be considered. in the work of the Municipality.

The presentation of good practices is a positive approach to the promotion of good works that are achieved in all cases by mobilizing and organizing the human resources of the municipality and the community, as an added value of budget funding.
