ALTAX: Annual Report 2023 and Strategy 2025 – 2029

ALTAX has as its first objective the analysis of the public finance policy and the central and local government program in terms of transparency, accountability, program fulfillment as an approach to strengthening the citizen initiative for open government.

The second objective is related to the fulfillment in quantity and quality of the economic, financial and social program, strengthening the dialogue for accountability according to civil expertise in defense of the rights of taxpayers/voters.

The third objective is to broaden the basis of debate and participation for new policies and budgets that are designed to influence change in the old principles of closed governance, which has kept corruption alive at these levels.

ALTAX has increased cooperation with professionals and members of civil society on issues of public consultation and will continue to address the necessity of changing the law on public consultation. We and our partners will continue to strengthen civil expertise in the function of civic causes.
Municipalities first and central institutions secondly have an important role for fulfilling their annual programs and those of the mandate they govern by managing with fiscal discipline the quantity and quality of income and expenses.

This model of action affects the non-creation of new fiscal problems and the addressing of those that have been carried over year after year, with an impact on the succession to the successors in government, but also with an impact on the lives of the citizens of the municipalities and the country.

This mindset is being influenced by the strength of the technical argument to be changed (assisted by civil expertise) working to strengthen the analysis of facts and the presentation of findings where and when necessary, as well as the accountability and responsibility of institutions to serve the restoration of public trust in the governance model by cleaning it from the approaches that produce corruption at the management levels

The report prepared from the information on the activities of ALTAX and its partners, based on the processing of sectoral, financial and economic experts, is an approach that tends to present the situation of activity indicators, the operation and fulfillment of the objectives and expected results, as well as the addresses of concerns encountered during 2023 along with those carried over, presented as a summary and comments by ALTAX experts.

In cooperation with partners we aspire to, based on analysis and dialogue on economic, social and financial issues, harmonize policy-making approaches to influence future policy processes by updating our objectives in response to challenges before they appear.

It is not enough to have good findings and arguments.

Our mission is to improve and promote economic, fiscal and social policies and the quality of deliberative dialogue based on the facts and findings of inclusive civil expertise to empower the economic and social decision-making process for people and businesses.
