Consequently, each chapter includes a table that notes the ease,\u00a0duration, and cost of implementation for every best practice within it. This third edition of Best Practices contains 60 new best practices. These are\u00a0 concentrated in the areas of internal auditing, accounts payable, \ufb01nance, and payroll.\u00a0Some of the best practices involve\u00a0solutions that have\u00a0been posted on various\u00a0Internet\u00a0sites,\u00a0but there are fewer of these best practices than appeared in the second\u00a0edition. Indeed,\u00a0a great many Internet sites listed in the second edition have\u00a0closed down, requiring the author to remove three best practices that had been
\nlisted in that book. The area of application service providers has been especially\u00a0hard hit, with about two-thirds of the providers listed in the second edition having\u00a0shut their doors in the past two years.<\/p>\n
Chapter 15 is new, containing 19 best practices for the internal auditing function.
