In the last analysis summarized in a publication entitled “Air Pollution: Added Economic Costs and Incentives for Comprehensive Policies”<\/a> we are oriented to answer directly with facts and legal arguments to exactly this question.<\/p>\n

As presented also in an MCN TV interview<\/em>,<\/a> although there is not a very widespread sensitivity to the damage that is caused little by little by air and environmental pollution, we must understand that allowing the harmful situation first for the health and subsequently also for the pocket of families and businesses has multiplied consequences for the future.<\/p>\n

Poor air quality is associated with a number of economic costs, such as increased health care and household costs, increased business costs and reduced activity and productivity, ecosystem damage and reduced tourism productivity.<\/p>\n

From the measurements carried out, a high level of air pollution is confirmed in the areas of the capital, but also in large cities and national roads with heavy traffic with vehicle movement and with construction sites and industrial production for:<\/p>\n

carbon dioxide (CO2),
\nnitrogen dioxide (NO2),
\ndust particles (PM2.5, PM10)<\/p>\n

Health costs with human life and related to them also the costs of the decline in the quality of health are not equally distributed according to the type of disease. From the publication of health indicators by INSTAT in 2022, it is mentioned that over 54% of deaths come from circulatory diseases and 3.4% come from respiratory diseases. Compared to just 10 years ago, the causes above have increased by 2 to 4%.<\/p>\n

In a reading of the effects created by air pollution, it is emphasized that in addition to the obvious harm to health, air pollution affects the environment by affecting temperatures, water resources and damaging forests, plant and animal wildlife and agriculture.<\/p>\n

In the analysis that we have prepared, we aim to go beyond the current political commitment to an effective level of applicability, where policies and incentive measures are harmonized to fulfill the main objective.<\/p>\n
