Investment climate and tax system in Albania 2012

The country’s economy has had exponential growth indicators with 9.6 percent for the three years 2009-2011. Inflation rate has been within limits permitted by the Bank of Albania and during 2011 on average it was at the level of 1.7 percent.

Description

Unemployment according to official statistics is at the level of 13.2 percent with a tendency to decrease as a result of employment promotion policies promoted by the government through increased investment in strategic sectors and creation of an encouraging climate for foreign investments, which are an indicator of increased confidence in Albanian market.

Foreign direct investments increased by 8.5% in 2010.

Exports of goods in 2011 were at 13.2% of nominal GDP. The ratio of imports was 39.1% of nominal GDP. The ratio of import coverage by export was estimated at 33.7%, a value about 6.8 percentage points higher than the historical average of the last six years.
